WatchAndCook turns a cooking video into a recipe you can actually cook from — an ingredient list you can scale and check off, and steps that jump to the moment in the video where they happen.

Common questions

Do I need an account?

No. Pasting a link, reading a recipe, Cook Mode, and saving recipes on your phone all work without signing in. Signing in with Apple does two things: your saved recipes follow you to your other devices, and your daily extraction limit goes from two to five.

Why is there a daily limit?

Each new video costs real money to process — reading its captions and running the extraction. The limit is what keeps the app free. A video that has been extracted before is served from cache instantly and does not count against your limit, and neither does an extraction that fails.

It says there is no recipe in this video.

Some videos genuinely have nothing to extract: no captions, or a narration that never gives amounts. Rather than invent quantities, WatchAndCook tells you it could not do it. Those attempts do not count against your daily limit. Videos where the creator says the amounts out loud, or lists them in the description, work best.

The extraction is taking a while.

The first extraction of a new video takes about 15 seconds. You can leave the screen while it runs. If it stops with an error, it is safe to try again — it will not be counted twice.

An amount looks wrong.

Amounts come from what the creator said or wrote, and occasionally the extraction reads one wrong. Tap through to the video to check, and please email us the link — those reports are how the extraction gets better.

Can I switch between cups and grams?

Yes. The US / Metric control on the ingredients list converts at display time. The original amounts the creator gave are what we store, so switching back and forth never loses anything.

How do I delete my account?

In the app: My recipes → the account button in the top right → Delete account. Your account and saved list are removed from our server immediately, and it cannot be undone. If you have never signed in, deleting the app removes everything — your saved recipes were only ever on your device.

What happens to the videos I extract?

See the privacy policy. Short version: no analytics, no advertising, no trackers, and we never receive your name or email address.

Requirements

iPhone running iOS 18 or later. An internet connection is needed to extract a video and to play it; recipes you have already saved stay readable.
